September 30, 2019– UPDATE

We just learned that Bo’s liver is completely blocked, which is what is causing his fluid build up. The good news is that this is what they thought might be happening, there are things that they can do, and they caught it now and are going to intervene at the earliest possible time.

The cause of his liver issues are not related to the transplanted new cells themselves, but it is caused by the chemo he received prior to transplant. Even while we are treating this new issue, his new cells will still be working on engrafting and will hopefully be able to support his body in other ways through his healing.

The plan for what’s going to happen is extreme. We will be transferring down to the PICU in a few hours. Bo will have surgery to put in a new central line for dialysis. They will be starting him on a med to unblock his liver and will be beginning dialysis shortly after. The liver med comes with a lot of risks, one of the biggest is bleeding. He will be on this med for 28 days. They may intubate and sedate Bo so that his body can rest long term. All of this is so hard and overwhelming and our minds are still spinning, but I wanted to communicate all of this because we are desperate for your prayers. We are heartbroken and weary.

We will update here as we are able. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  1. Lord God, we love You.
    Thank you for Your grace and mercy.
    Father, we ask you to bless and heal Baby Bo. Lord, we know you hold all things in the palm of your mighty hand. Please bring rest and renewal to Bo’s precious body in every way. May the Name of Jesus be praised and glorified through it all.
    Amen.

    “So do not fear,
    for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed,
    for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you
    and help you;
    I will uphold you
    with my righteous right hand.”
    -Isaiah 41:10

  2. Our hearts break for you guys Chloe, we are so encouraged by your strength. Praying that Bo has a successful surgery (free of any complications), and his little body reacts quickly to the meds. Many prayers are going your way from Maui!

  3. Praying for God’s healing on Boaz. He will live to be a testimony of the wonderful work God is performing in his life. Praying for grace and strength for Bo’s parents..
