Well, we finally made it up to the oncology unit! It feels so good to be back up here and we are eager to see how Bo improves outside of the PICU.
Unfortunately, as of this morning, Bo is holding onto more fluid from the last 24 hours than he has been since coming off the continuous dialysis machine. It feels like one step forward, one step back. His numbers are slowly continuing to improve (via his blood tests), it’s just confusing why he’s still holding onto so much fluid. There is a chance they could send us back down to the PICU to put him back on the continuous dialysis machine, but we are praying that won’t happen. Will you be praying for Bo’s liver and kidneys to continue to heal and for him to be able to stay in our normal unit?
Another hurdle we are still in the midst of is Bo’s platelet counts. His counts continue to be very low despite receiving regular platelet infusions. With his liver and kidneys still not recovered, they consume a lot of platelets, and we are having a hard time keeping up with his needs. He scratched himself on his face yesterday and because he doesn’t have enough platelets to make it clot, it has continued to bleed for the last 24 hours. We are also still reminded daily that we are in the midst of a nationwide platelet shortage. Please pray with us for Bo’s body to hold onto these precious platelets and for his daily need to continue to be met.
I’m feeling a little discouraged this morning, but trying to keep my eyes fixed on Christ, reminding myself of the deliverance we have experienced already, and hoping for that which is yet to come.
We love you all and are blessed to be on this journey with you. Thank you for your continued prayers ❤️
