June 17, 2019 – 11 Months Old Today!

Bo is 11 months old today! He is happy and active and we are looking forward to celebrating his first birthday next month.

The last week in the hospital has continued to be rather uneventful, which is a good thing—no fevers or other complications. We are just waiting for Bo’s blood counts to recover enough that we can head home safely without him being at high risk of infection. Bo has daily blood draws each morning and the key number we are watching is his Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC)—a type of white blood cell that fights against infection.

Bo’s ANCs have been fluctuating between 0 and 10 for over two weeks, but today jumped to 40! We will be discharged to head home once Bo’s ANCs hit at least 200 for two days in a row. We are hoping that could happen sometime in the next week.

Our care team also monitors Bo’s hemoglobin and platelet counts as part of his daily blood tests. Both of those have begun to climb as well, so he should not need any more transfusions this hospital visit.

We are so thankful for your encouragement and ongoing prayers on behalf of Bo and our family. Please pray that Bo would be protected against fever and infections and that his body would remain strong and healthy to continue to produce the ANCs he needs in order to go home.

Thank you!

Lance
